Welcome to the Art of Medicine! My name is Tianyi, and current pre-medical student in my last year of university. I was inspired to create this blog after a summer of studying for the MCAT while on an internship abroad. It was one of the most challenging yet fulfilling times of my life. And throughout it, I realized over and over again how important it was to remember the beauty of life. The joy of a simple, silly conversation with someone. The humanity of connecting with another person. The complexity and privilege of being a physician. …Β The art of medicine.
As premeds, and medical students, we’re rarely taught how “artistic” medicine can be. Instead, we’re told to memorize facts, to do well on exams, to stress about our gpas. But at the end of the day, medicine is more than the superficial. To truly feel fulfilled as a premed, I have found power in seeing how deep and intricate this process is. And valuing the process, rather than the end result.
If you’re interested in the journey, want some added inspiration, or just plain enjoy reading some good writing, then come along for the ride. π I would highly appreciate any feedback or advice– and hope that this site is as interactive as possible!
